Back To School Giveaway - 3 Chances to Win 10 Patterns!

It is the first day back to school and the first day I can dedicate to all the changes I want to make in my shop.  Such an exciting time after being out of the loops for so long.

During the past week I have been posting on Facebook and am so happy to see a lot of familiar people still with me:)  Thank you so much for your continued support even after I stepped away for a while.  I always loved the time I spent online, sharing stories about families, our children and our businesses.
I thought of many of you often wondered how your children or business were coming along.  I was even able to keep in touch with some of you on a personal level which I always enjoy.

I am excited to be designing again and am so happy that with everyone's support I am still able to do this.  I have many patterns in the works, some are simply sketches to be worked up, some are still a work-in-progress and some are almost complete.  With so much swirling around in my head it is hard to see a pattern through from start to completion.  You know how it is, like a new ball of yarn.  As soon as you get it the half finished projects are abandoned for the tempting new one waiting to be created.

Well onto what you are all here for!  The biggest giveaway I have ever done.

Here's the scoop!
The giveaway starts today and ends on September 11, 2013
There are three ways to enter, two of which you can do everyday.  So be sure to take advantage and enter as many times as you can.

So Excited

As summer here comes to an end I am faced with no one at home starting September.  Bittersweet, Christian will be full-time and Matthew will be starting grade 3.  The past year I spent enjoying time with Christian and helping Matthew settle back into a regular classroom (which he loves!).  Now it is time to get stitching again.

I have to admit I have been extremely out of touch with the crochet world while spending time with my family.  I think often about the people who were a daily part of my life and still have contact with a handful of them on occasion.  I had not been on Etsy for months but decided to hop on and see what everyone has been up to.

Seems the world of crochet designers has grown immensely, but it also seems, a lot of the same thing just under different names.  This makes me quite excited!  I have over the year been sketching out ideas as they come to mind and even been able to make up a few samples.  I am really happy I will be able to offer you something new.

In addition to new items I have been giving a lot of thought to value.  When I first opened my store I offered something unique and at the same time better value than most, as my patterns came with 4-6 sizes.  Now I have an even better idea and will be putting together special package deals.  Ohhh I think you will be happy.  It won't be the Buy 3 Get 1 Free (although I will still over that) but will give you even better value than before.

Well that is my teaser for now... I hope to hookup with you all on Facebook

xoxo

Crochet Newsboy Cap Video Tutorial

WOW! Making this video tutorial was certainly a learning experience:)  I was thinking no problem whip the hat up in a couple of hours and away we go!

What I wasn't counting on was the interruptions forgetting where I was, knocking over the camera,  verbal blunders and then of course out right errors when I was talking ie: saying the wrong round - and then of course the curse words that followed when I realized I had done that.

I now know how to dub over videos, slice it up into pieces, add "annotations", and now realize that something you might think will take only a few hours can turn into days.  In the long run... totally worth it and excited to do more.

Please share this link with anyone you know who keeps saying "I want to learn to crochet" I would love to hear feed back because anything I can do to help make things easier I want to do.

The full pattern can be found here, make sure you read it over and have all the materials on hand.

So ready?  Here we go... This video had to be divided into 3 parts to upload so here they are in order.

Have fun:)

Halloween Fun!

Halloween is one of those holidays that sneaks up on me every year.  I keep thinking of all the fun things I want to do with the boys and the costumes I want to make.  Then it is here and I have barely scratched the surface of what I want to do.

This year - Pinterest helped to keep me organized.  I found a few ideas on there and voila when time was catching up I knew exactly where to find some great ideas.

Here is what my house looked like.  For the food ideas I got off Pinterest you will find the links below:)

GREAT TREATS
Be sure to check out this blog she had such wonderful ideas - that I personally could not resist!

A few fun and really quick craft ideas for the boys.  Somewhere I saw a picture of these bats made from egg cartons.  They were so simple and the boys just loved making them.

The spiders were a little more difficult my 6 year old could make them and figured out how to do the legs but my 4 year old simply directed me on what to do. (What else is new!)

Ahhh Halloween probably the only time that my dead plants and a rotting pumpkin actually added to the decor!

Now to start planning for Christmas:)

Crochet Handbag/Purse

After getting together for our local "Stitch 'N' Bitch" with friends and being told I had an ugly crochet bag - I thought I'd better make something a little more presentable:)
I didn't want to spend a lot of time to make it so of course I used a large hook and thick yarn.  After shopping around for handles and not finding anything that would look nice I headed to the local thrift shop.
There I found a few old bags with great handles - $2.00 each!  Great deals:)
Anyway now I am offering this free crochet handbag pattern to you.  I hope you really enjoy making it.

Crochet Hook Conversion Chart

Every now and then I get an email asking for the number, letter or size of a certain crochet hook.  I have compiled a list of the crochet hooks I have on hand and the equivalents as noted on the hooks or packaging.
My larger hooks are all Red Heart Red Heart Crystalites they are plastic which is not my preferred material but still work well.

The regular hooks I use are by Susan Bates I LOVE THEM!  They are straight hooks that don't have a tapered head which allows for smooth stitches that glide easily through the loops without catching or snagging when you are trying to work.

Hope this is a help to some of you:)
